The Department of Media at Cihan University-Erbil Strengthens Ties with the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate in Baghdad

On Saturday, February 8, 2025, the head of the Media Department at Cihan University-Erbil, accompanied by a delegation of department council members and media department students, paid an official visit to the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate in Baghdad. They were received by the head of the Syndicate, Mr. Muayyad Al-Lami.

The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation between Cihan University-Erbil and the Syndicate, addressing various topics such as updating the university’s media department curricula to align with modern developments in journalism and media. Discussions also covered mechanisms to facilitate the employment of department graduates in media institutions and create job opportunities for them.

Both parties explored the possibility of holding training workshops for students, supervised by specialists from the Syndicate, to equip them with essential practical skills and prepare them for the job market.

The meeting emphasized the importance of collaboration between academic and professional institutions to elevate journalism and media standards in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq and to produce generations of qualified journalists capable of serving society.

At the end of the visit, Assistant Teacher Azwar Mahdi Qassim Agha, head of the Media Department at Cihan University-Erbil, expressed gratitude to Mr. Muayyad Al-Lami for the warm reception. He emphasized the University’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Syndicate to benefit students and media work in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
