The Department of Medical Microbiology Visited Anfal and Martyr Monument to Mark 37th Anniversary of Anfal Genocide
On Monday, 14th April 2025, in remembrance of the 37th anniversary of the Anfal genocide, third-stage students from the Department of Medical Microbiology visited the Anfal and Martyr Monument in Erbil. The visit was held to commemorate the atrocities inflicted upon the Kurdish people by the Ba’athist regime of Iraq during the Anfal campaign.
The students were warmly received by Mr. Shukrullah Babakr, the director and supervisor of the Anfal and Martyr Monument. He provided a detailed explanation of the symbolism behind the monument, which will soon be officially opened to the public. Mr. Shukrullah Babakr emphasized the significance of the monument in honoring the victims of the genocide and preserving the memory of those who perished for future generations.
As part of the commemoration, the Medical Microbiology students placed memorial wreaths on the symbolic graves, paying their respects to the martyrs who were victims of the brutal Anfal campaign.
