The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics Participated in an Educational Visit to Sajj Al Reef Restaurant
On Tuesday, February 4, 2025, the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Cihan University-Erbil participated in an educational visit to Sajj Al Reef Restaurant. Supervised by Assistant Lecturer Shakir Mahmood, the visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to food preparation, meal planning, and nutritional assessment in a real-world setting.
During the visit, students observed various stages of food production, from ingredient selection to meal preparation. The restaurant’s team, along with Mr. Ahmed Ali, the restaurant supervisor, warmly welcomed the students and shared valuable insights on menu planning, portion control, and dietary balance, highlighting how nutritional principles are applied in their meals.
Students actively participated in discussions about the nutritional value of different dishes and explored the impact of various cooking methods on food quality. They also assessed the restaurant’s approach to healthy eating and suggested ways to enhance the nutritional benefits of meals.
Assistant Lecturer Shakir Mahmood emphasized the importance of the visit, stating that it provided students with practical exposure to meal planning and food service management. He highlighted that experiencing nutrition principles in action helps bridge the gap between theory and practice.
