The Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences Team Claims the Cihan University–Erbil Football League Championship
On Thursday, February 12, 2026, the final football match of Cihan University–Erbil’s interdepartmental league took place in a vibrant atmosphere at the university stadium. The event was attended by Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University–Erbil, the Head of the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, and a large number of faculty members and supporters.
Every team dream of standing on the victory podium at the end of the competition. With this goal in mind, the student teams from the Department of Media and the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences entered the field determined to compete.
At the referee’s whistle, the excitement began. Both teams demonstrated strong preparation and disciplined tactics. The Media team adopted a defensive strategy, aware of the attacking strength of their opponents. This caution proved justified when the Physical Education and Sports Sciences team capitalized on a defensive lapse to score the opening goal, shifting the momentum in their favor. The Media team pushed hard for an equalizer, but the skill and experience of the opposing goalkeeper, Dedar Hamed, denied their attempts, and the first half ended with that score.
In the second half, the Media team intensified their efforts, with their coach using all available options to level the match. Meanwhile, the defenders and goalkeeper of the Physical Education and Sports Sciences team delivered a disciplined and resilient performance. As the match progressed, pressure increased on both sides. Relying on effective counterattacks, the Physical Education and Sports Sciences team extended their lead, scoring a second and then a third goal. Despite continued determination from the Media team, the defensive strength of their opponents left little room for opportunity. In the closing minutes, a forward from the Physical Education and Sports Sciences team sealed the result with a fourth goal, securing a decisive 4–0 victory.
Notably, the Physical Education and Sports Sciences team clinched the championship without conceding a single goal in the final match.
