The Department of Radiological Imaging Technologies Organized a Scientific Trip to Malak Al-Rahma Center
On Monday, April 23rd, 2024, the first-stage students in the Radiological Imaging Technologies Department at Cihan University-Erbil, under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Noor Sami Omar, held a scientific visit to Malak Al-Rahma Center.Top of Form
The objectives of this visit were to enhance students’ understanding of medical imaging techniques and to provide them with an opportunity to observe the principles of working with a Computed Tomography (CT) scan device. The students were welcomed by Mr. Muhammed Kamil Abdulrahman, a specialist in radiography. They were then divided into groups and had the opportunity to observe the techniques used with the CT scan device.
During their visit to the clinic center, students delved into the fascinating world of medical imaging, with the CT scan emerging as a highlight of their educational journey. Guided by knowledgeable healthcare professionals, they embarked on a voyage of discovery into the principles underpinning computed tomography. With keen interest, they learned how this advanced imaging technique harnesses X-rays from multiple angles to generate detailed cross-sectional images of the body. Through engaging demonstrations and interactive discussions, the students gained insight into how CT scans aid in the diagnosis and management of a myriad of medical conditions, from fractures to tumors. As they understood the importance of radiation safety protocols, their appreciation for the transformative power of technology in healthcare deepened.
Afterward, the students’ attention was drawn to the realm of X-ray imaging. As they observed the radiographers meticulously positioning patients and configuring equipment, the principles of X-ray devices were clearly explained.
At the end of the trip, the students of the Radiological Imaging Technologies Department at Cihan University-Erbil were excited to have been involved in such an activity.
