
The Presence of Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil: College of Pharmacy Celebrates World Pharmacists’ Day

The College of Pharmacy at Cihan University-Erbil celebrated World Pharmacists’ Day on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, through an academic and educational event that highlighted the vital role of pharmacists in healthcare and patient safety.
The celebration was held in the presence of Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil, Dr. Muhamed Aydin Abbas, Dean of the College of Pharmacy, several heads of departments, faculty members, and students.
The event featured an educational exhibition designed to raise awareness of the pharmacy profession and highlight the diverse responsibilities of pharmacists in promoting health, ensuring the safe and effective use of medicines, and contributing to high-quality patient care. The pharmacist’s essential role as an active and integral member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team was also emphasized.
As part of the celebration, students of the College of Pharmacy presented a Virtual Pharmacy, providing an interactive educational experience that introduced various medications and demonstrated the principles of their safe and appropriate use. The exhibition also included educational posters and presentations addressing important pharmaceutical and healthcare topics.
On this occasion, a diverse range of pharmaceutical and cosmetic products, including skincare preparations, natural oils, and other formulations, was also presented by students. These products were developed through laboratory-based preparation and extraction processes conducted in the College’s pharmaceutical laboratories, demonstrating the practical application of pharmaceutical sciences and highlighting the students’ laboratory skills, creativity, and scientific knowledge. The displayed products also reflected the quality of the College’s practical and laboratory-based education, providing students with an opportunity to transform their theoretical knowledge into practical applications.
In addition, academic and student-led seminars explored several areas related to the rational and safe use of medicines, patient education, and the appropriate use of medicinal plant products. These activities provided students with an opportunity to demonstrate their scientific knowledge, communication skills, and ability to apply pharmaceutical concepts in practical and patient-oriented contexts.
During the celebration, Professor Dr. Amjad expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the College of Pharmacy in organizing the event and highlighted the important contribution of pharmacists to the healthcare system. He commended the faculty members and students for their active participation and emphasized the significant role of pharmacy professionals in supporting patient care and contributing to the work of healthcare teams across various medical fields.
