The Provision of Immediate Medical Services for the Public by the Biomedical Sciences Department

On May 7, 2023, the Biomedical Sciences Department of Cihan University-Erbil organized a medical activity that involved the provision of immediate medical services for the public at Sami Abdulrahman Park by its second and third-stage students. This hands-on activity, which was carried out under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Mr. Mohammed M. Hussein, aimed to provide the opportunity for the students to practice the knowledge gained from their Biomedical Sciences program in real-life situations.

This activity involved the active participation of the public consisting of children, teenagers, adolescents, and the elderly. These people, who became the clients of the day, were offered a comprehensive range of free-of-charge medical services which included and were not limited to the detection of diabetes as well as stomach disease and the measurements of heart rate and body oxygen before and after exercise. For the measurement of diabetes and a type of stomach bacteria, namely H. Pylori, advanced Lifotronic technology was utilized. On this day, the students successfully ran a total of 95 blood sugar tests for the diabetic patients and 35 H. Pylori tests. This was followed by each client receiving hard copy test results released within 5 minutes.

All immediate medical benefits enjoyed by the clients on this day were offered by the students in a friendly and engaging manner. The Biomedical Sciences Department appreciated the students’ efforts and teamwork devoted to ensuring the satisfaction of all clients.
