The Second Place for Cihan University-Erbil in Kurdistan Region Universities Debate Championship

On February 25, 2024, the Cihan University – Erbil team finalized the second position in the Kurdistan Region Universities Debate Championship. This prestigious event was organized by the International Academy for Leadership and Development in collaboration with the Rawanga Foundation, and it took place at Kurdistan University in Erbil. Sixteen governmental and private universities from the region participated in this intellectually charged competition.

Represented by students Aram Noor Al-Din Muhyaddin (Microbiology Department), Qamar Atheer Ismail (Architecture Engineering Department), Tabarak Hussein Ali Aga (Interior Design Department), and Hajar Mohammed Ali Al-Kanaan (Physiotherapy Department), the Cihan University – Erbil team, under the guidance of Assistant Lecturer Omar Adil Mohammed Ali, showcased exceptional prowess in the preliminary rounds. They secured the first position in the Erbil Governorate Qualification round, triumphing over universities such as Kurdistan – Erbil, Salah al-Din, and the Lebanese – French University, earning them a well-deserved spot in the semi-final stage.

In the semi-final held on Sunday, February 25, 2024, the Cihan University – Erbil team faced off against Chirmo University, the leading team from Sulaymaniyah Governorate. Displaying exceptional debating skills, they emerged victorious, earning themselves a place in the crucial final round against the American University – Duhok.

The final round was an intense display of outstanding debating skills, critical thinking, and persuasive argumentation. Witnessed by all attendees and members of the judging panel, the Cihan University – Erbil team secured the second position in this groundbreaking event in the Kurdistan Region, marking a significant achievement for the university and the participating students.
