Involvement of the Biomedical Sciences Department Student in the Volunteerism.KRD Platform

‘Volunteer.KRD’ is a new volunteering platform in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq. Its mission is to provide opportunities for any interested volunteers whether individuals or organizations to be part of it to bring a change in people’s lives, especially in the Kurdistan Region.

Registered volunteers will enjoy the privilege of accessing any upcoming events, workshops, and activities in the Kurdistan Region that require volunteerism. The volunteerism opportunities are divided into five sections, namely 1) health and medical section, 2) climate change, 3) cleaning the environment, 4) education for refugees, and 5) event management.

On the opening ceremony of the ‘Volunteerism.KRD’ platform on June 22, 2023, a Biomedical Sciences Department student of Cihan University – Erbil (Maryam Amer Ameed Akram) organized the launch of the ‘Volunteerism.KRD’ platform in Erbil Citadel. On this day, Maryam also delivered her speech on stage in the presence of many VIP attendees such as Mr. Areen Barzani, Mr. Omed Khoshnaw, and the US Consul including the invited popular celebrities in the country.

On June 23, 2023 (Friday), Maryam carried out volunteerism activities as part of the ‘Volunteerism.KRD’ platform. As a representative of the Health and Medical Section for the Kurdistan Region, Maryam together with a medical team went to Dara Shakran Camp and provided the patients with free medical examinations and health check-ups there.

Maryam was proud of representing her Biomedical Sciences Department.
