Workshop on Application of Virtual and Augmented Reality in Education
On September 29th to 30th, 2021, a two-day workshop entitled “Virtual Reality in Education” was held by the Computer science department with Health Technology College to discuss VR and AR in Education. The workshop aimed to develop a syllabus that uses Virtual reality to provide information, teach skills, train students to solve problems and think creatively.
With an attendance of several teaching staff from Departments of Physiotherapy, Nutrition and Dietetic, Community Health, Medical Biochemical Analysis, Biology [Microbiology], and Biomedical, the workshop lead by Mr. Mohammed Hussein Shukur, Head of Computer Science Department, some essential aspects discussed in the workshop such as of virtual reality benefits in education by allowing students to participate in memorable and interactive experiences.
Virtual reality equipment is available to all students and is readily controlled by teachers. Students may be engaged and inspired uniquely and powerfully through virtual experiences. Virtual reality may also offer significant advantages over the use of textbooks and other educational tools.
Virtual reality is a simulation of a natural or imagined environment, created with software and presented to the user so that the user suspends belief and accepts it as a realistic representation of the subject matter.
