“You Should Be Proud to Study at This Leading University,” Says Professor Dr. Amjad Sabir Al-Delawi President of Cihan University-Erbil on Welcoming First-Year Students
On Sunday, December 7, 2025, marking the commencement of the 2025-2026 academic year for first-year students, Professor Dr. Amjad Sabir Al-Delaw, President of Cihan University-Erbil, visited the university’s scientific departments to personally welcome the new freshmen.
During his tour of the lecture halls, the University President extended warm congratulations to the students on their admission and the beginning of a new chapter in their academic lives at Cihan University-Erbil. In various addresses delivered to students across different departments, Professor Dr. Amjad Sabir Al-Delawi highlighted the university’s long-standing and illustrious history, noting that it was established in 2007 as the first private university in the Kurdistan Region and currently stands as the largest private university in the region.
In another part of his speech, the President discussed the university’s prestigious scientific standing on both local and international levels. He outlined numerous academic achievements, particularly regarding global rankings, scientific research, quality of education, and student exchange programs with advanced universities worldwide. Addressing the students, he stated: “Today, you must be proud to have become part of this great family; take pride in studying at a university that possesses strong scientific infrastructure, a professional academic staff, and a leading position within the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the wider region.”
At the conclusion of his visit, Professor Dr. Amjad Sabir Al-Delawi wished the students success and a bright future. He reaffirmed that the university presidency is dedicating all efforts to providing an optimal educational environment and the necessary scientific resources to nurture students, enabling them to become a generation of leaders and innovators upon the successful completion of their studies.
