A Scientific Visit to Nanakali Hospital by the Department of Accounting at Cihan University – Erbil
On Thursday, January 23, 2025, the Department of Accounting at Cihan University – Erbil organized a scientific visit to Nanakali Hospital involving its second-year students, under the supervision of Dr. Ibrahim Hussein, an academic staff member in the department. The visit aimed to connect the theoretical concepts taught in class with practical experience at government institutions. Nanakali Hospital, as a government hospital, implements public accounting practices that can provide students with valuable insights into real-world accounting operations.
This initiative reflects the department’s dedication to enhancing students’ theoretical and practical knowledge, equipping them with essential skills for their future careers. The students were warmly welcomed by Mr. Karzan Ibrahim Khalil, Director of the Administrative Division, who facilitated the visit.
During their tour of the Accounting Department, Mr. Karzan and an accountant explained the hospital’s procedures for managing expenses and revenues, including reconciliation of financial records with the Erbil Health Directorate, which oversees the hospital’s funding and administration.
The visit also extended to the Services Department, where the department head outlined the ways to monitor employee attendance, manage shift schedules, and utilize attendance records to prepare payroll statements. This was followed by further discussion about the roles and regulations of the procurement and kitchen committees, their formation processes, and the settlement of advances with the Erbil Health Directorate.
The students, accompanied by Mr. Karzan, finally explored various departments at the hospital to gain a comprehensive understanding of their operations. This scientific visit underscores the commitment of the Accounting Department and Cihan University-Erbil to bridging theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience. By fostering partnerships with organizations and government institutions, the university continues to enrich its students’ learning process and enhance their practical competencies.
