An Educational Visit by the Civil Engineering Students to the Cihan Teaching Hospital Project

On 9 March 2022, a group of fourth-stage students from the Department of Civil Engineering, Cihan University-Erbil visited the 18-Donum Cihan Education Hospital project in Erbil. This project occupies eleven storeys with green spaces and a 541-car parking garage.

The visit included a phase of drilling, arming, and pouring the foundations of the project. With the presence of Assistant Professor Dr. Noori Sadiq Ali who accompanied the students during the visit, he provided them with an explanation regarding several aspects related to their bachelor’s degree studies such as; drilling process, the required depth, and the amount of reinforcement and poured the foundations to answer the students’ questions regarding the structural design and the dimensions of steel reinforcement.

By the end of the visit, the students expressed the importance of this visit to them such as; they were able to relate the information gained during the study process with the real work setting. They also found the visit was informative, as they acquire new skills and keep pace with the development of construction work.
