Students from the Department of Civil Engineering Analyzed the Soil Characteristics of Cihan University-Erbil

In order to identify the characteristics of the soil and to enhance the information gained through the soil and foundation lessons, a group of third-stage students from the Department of Civil Engineering of Cihan University-Erbil carried out soil analysis based on international specifications. This analysis which was conducted on 8 March 2022 by applying the Sand Cone Test Method involved taking a sample of the soil and conducting tests in the laboratory for the purpose of finding the density and water content of the soil.

It is one of the most important experiments to be applied to the soil prepared for the construction of projects to determine the durability of the soil and pressure on the underlying strata, to analyze the stability of the slopes, or to calculate the settlement during the design of underground structures.

The aforementioned experiment aims to enhance the students’ knowledge of their bachelor’s degree studies and to strengthen their analytical skills in order to keep up with work after graduation.
