Biomedical Sciences Department Hosts Workshop on Breast Cancer Awareness
The Biomedical Sciences Department held a significant Breast Cancer Awareness workshop on Thursday, October 24, 2024, as part of its annual Pink October activities. The event featured by Dr. Suzan Hoshyar Qader, director of the Erbil Breast Cancer Center, who focused on raising awareness about breast cancer, prevention, and early detection methods.
Dr. Suzan provided detailed insights into the development of breast cancer and offered practical guidance on self-examinations, which are essential for early detection. She also addressed common misconceptions about the disease, debunking several myths suggesting that certain everyday actions may cause cancer. Notably, Dr. Suzan emphasized that breast cancer can affect men as well, highlighting the increasing number of cases among males each year.
At the conclusion of the session, the department honored Dr. Suzan Hoshyar Qader with a certificate of appreciation and a university plaque in recognition of her contributions to the event and her ongoing dedication to breast cancer awareness and treatment.
