Cihan University – Erbil concludes the Fifth International Scientific Conference on Communication Engineering and Computer Science
Over the course of two days, Wednesday and Thursday 24th and 25th of April 2024, and graciously sponsored by His Excellency, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Aram Mohammed Qadir. Cihan University-Erbil in collaboration with the International Islamic University Malaysia and Ajloun National University-Jordan held the Fifth International Scientific Conference on Communication Engineering and Computer Science within the premises of Cihan University – Erbil.
The conference featured seventy-three scientific papers presented by researchers from both inside and outside Iraq, including the Kurdistan Region. Accepted research papers were presented over the two days of the conference, covering four main tracks and accompanied by academic and scientific discussions that enriched the conference topics and the research presented. Additionally, two international workshops were held on the sidelines of the conference, with the participation of researchers from Malaysia and Jordan.
At the commencement of the closing ceremony, a documentary film showing the conference proceedings and sessions over the two days was presented. Subsequently, Dr. Hisham Jawad Ahmed, a faculty member in the Department of Informatics and Software Engineering at Cihan University – Erbil, delivered the recommendations drawn from the conference. Among these recommendations were:
- 1. The researchers in this track presented different and modern applications of AI that are important in the fields of health, education, and Engineering.
- The conference featured an effective discussion panel tackling the importance of artificial intelligence, smart systems, and the Internet of Things(IOT) in our lives.
- Great attention must be given to studies of these technologies.
Later, Professor Dr. Amjad Sabir Al-Dalawi, the President of Cihan University – Erbil, delivered the closing speech of the conference, stating: “This conference with its different scientific tracks, marks a significant milestone in modern society, especially in the fields of artificial intelligence and cyber security. After two days of scientific discourse that enriched conference sessions, this event has successfully achieved its general objectives and the specific goals aimed at serving the community in all its sectors. The outcomes of this conference are applicable and noteworthy as they seek to serve the community. The presence of key researchers and speakers from outside Iraq and the Kurdistan Region has provided a valuable opportunity for scientific and intellectual exchange.
Moreover, the conference was distinguished by the organization of two important workshops in the specialized field. The results of the conference were truly remarkable and commendable, and the conference was characterized by a diverse attendance from various countries and leading universities worldwide”
In his speech, Dr. Amjad pointed out that one of the biggest achievements of the conference was the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Ajloun National University-Jordan. This memorandum signifies an important step in strengthening the scientific relations between the two universities.
Professor Dr. Amjad Sabir Al-Dalawi emphasized that this conference has fully met the requirements of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Kurdistan Region. It has achieved international recognition through the participation of researchers from outside Iraq, the numerous research papers, and the presence of keynote speakers in addition to conducting two international workshops. All of these aspects align with the guidelines set by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Kurdistan Region.
In his speech, Professor Dr. Amjad Sabir Al-Dalawi extended his gratitude and appreciation to Ajloun National University in Jordan and the International Islamic University Malaysia, along with their academic, administrative, and managerial staff who contributed to the success of this conference. He also expressed his thanks to the researchers who endured the burdens of travel to actively participate and contribute to this conference.
Moreover, Professor Dr. Amjad Sabir Al-Dalawi commended all the committees involved in the conference such as the preparation, scientific, administrative, media-related, guest reception, and information technology committees. He acknowledged the diligent efforts of these committees over several months to ensure the optimal success of the conference.
Furthermore, Dr. Amjad Sabir Al-Dalawi stated that Cihan University–Erbil conducts scientific conferences annually in different fields of study, some of which are collaborative efforts with other international universities.
During his speech, he referred to the scientific achievements of Cihan University-Erbil since its establishment in 2007. He mentioned the university’s attainment of advanced positions in numerous global scientific rankings among both governmental and private universities in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. Additionally, he emphasized that Cihan University-Erbil boasts an outstanding academic faculty with remarkable scientific experience.
As part of the closing ceremony, certificates of participation were distributed to the keynote speakers of the conference, as well as to all researchers, session chairs, and rapporteurs. Finally, photos were taken of the conference organizers and researchers. Thus, the Fifth International Scientific Conference on Communication Engineering and Computer Science concluded its proceedings.
