The 5th International Joint Conference was inaugurated at Cihan University-Erbil on January 29, 2025, in partnership with the University of Lodz, Poland, and Mosul University. The conference, lasting two days, includes various research presentations. One key session, Session 6, on Quantitative Methods and Applied Statistics, took place at Cihan University’s VIP Hall. The session was chaired by Asst. Prof. Dr. Hawker Qasim Birawod, with (Asst. Prof. Dr. Iraq Tarek Abbas) as co-chair, drawing a large audience of researchers and academic staff.
The session began with a keynote speech by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ammar F. Al-Bazi from Aston Business School, Aston University, UK. After the keynote address, the session featured several research presentations. Asst. Prof. Dr. Qusay H. Al-Salami from Cihan University-Erbil presented a study on using machine learning and recurrent neural networks for optimizing natural gas production predictions, aiding production planning and market strategies. Asst. Prof. Dr. Alan Ghafur Rahim from Salahaddin University-Erbil shared a simulation study on wavelet analysis, showing its superior accuracy over traditional penalized methods. Prof. Dr. AbdulRahim Khalaf Rahi from Al-Ameen University introduced a new approach to quality control using discrete wavelet transformation and mean time between failure to improve monitoring and defect detection in production processes.
The session ended with Asst. Prof. Dr. Hawker Qasim Birawod leading an interactive discussion, where participants could ask questions. He expressed gratitude to the presenters and attendees for their contributions. The conference will continue with additional sessions, promoting further academic exchange and collaboration among researchers.
