Cihan University-Erbil won the Iraqi Muay Thai Championship
Abdullah Fouad Hassan, a student from the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Cihan University-Erbil has recently been announced as the winner of the Iraqi Muay Thai Championship. With his weight was 91kg during the tournament, he won the gold medal for the advanced category after the third fight.
Initially, he won the first fight over the Al-Salam Club player and later won the second fight against his counterpart from Maysan Club after announcing his withdrawal. As for the third fight, it ended with a victory for Cihan University-Erbil when he won over the player of Solaf Club and became the champion. This special tournament was held at the Circuit of Gilgamesh Private University in the city of Baghdad from 15 to 19 February 2022. The tournament which involved the participation of 280 players representing 40 clubs from different governorates of Iraq; was sponsored by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Captain Adnan Darjal, and the Central Iraqi Muay Thai Federation.
The tournament witnessed the presence of the best referees from Tunisia, Lebanon, and Jordan including the international referees from Iraq. This tournament was meaningful to all players, as it also serves to select the national team members who are awaiting important foreign participation such as; the Asian Games and the World Universities Championship.
