During the inaugural session of the conference, Assistant Prof. Dr. Khattab Ahmed Mustafa, Director General of Education, Planning, and Follow up in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, KRG- Iraq, delivered a speech on behalf of Dr. Aram Mohammed Qadir, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. In his address, Dr. Khattab conveyed his satisfaction in hosting the fifth international scientific conference in the domains of communication engineering and computer sciences.
Dr. Khattab proceeded to underscore the significance of holding the conference, remarking on how in recent years, the realms of communication engineering and computer sciences have been instrumental in driving and facilitating advancements across various sectors. From healthcare to transportation, and from sustainable energy solutions to global communication networks, agriculture, tourism, and beyond. That is, the fields of communication engineering and computer sciences have not only facilitated technical progress but have also served as the foundation for constructing an intelligent and progressive society. Consequently, there is a pressing need to prioritize the integration of these technological advancements into our educational curricula, making them focal points of our research endeavors. This ensures that our students and researchers are equipped with the necessary tools to thrive in an increasingly digital landscape. Furthermore, there is a call to foster interdisciplinary studies and strengthen the links between academia and industry, thus fostering collaboration and innovation.
Dr. Khattab elaborated that to achieve this objective, it is imperative to foster an environment conducive to translating innovation from theoretical concepts in the classroom to practical applications in laboratories, and subsequently, to real-world contexts. This necessitates ongoing collaboration with international partners and academic institutions globally. These conferences serve as tangible illustrations of uniting local and international scholars to collaborate towards shared objectives. Thus, these gatherings transcend mere platforms for research presentation; they serve as forums for collaborative endeavors, networking with fellow researchers, and charting a course for future initiatives.
Following the presentations, the conference proceedings commenced. Over the course of two days, researchers will present scientific findings across four key areas: 1) Artificial Intelligence systems and Machine Learning, Image Processing, IoT Robotics and Smart System, 2) Software Engineering and Software Development, 3) Communication Engineering Systems, Web Science, and Social Informatics, and 4) Data Science, Cloud Computing and Cyber Security. These presentations will be subject to rigorous scientific discussion. Additionally, two workshops will be conducted alongside the conference.
