Community Health Nursing Department Conducts Cancer Awareness Program on World Cancer Day

On 4 February 2026, in observance of World Cancer Day, the Community Health Nursing Department at Cihan University–Erbil organized a community cancer awareness program conducted by its third-stage students under the supervision of Assist. Prof. Dr. Thamari Thankam.

As part of the program, the students prepared and distributed educational handouts addressing common cancer myths and facts. With prior permission from Mr. Rebin Nawzad, the awareness team visited Sami Abdulrahman Park to carry out the activity. During the visit, the students actively engaged with members of the public by distributing informational materials and providing health education on the causes of cancer, common signs and symptoms, diagnostic methods, treatment options, and preventive measures.

Special emphasis was placed on correcting false beliefs, myths, and misconceptions about cancer prevalent in the community. The awareness session was designed to be both interactive and informative, focusing on enhancing public understanding and encouraging early detection and prevention.
