Department of Accounting Students Visit the Erbil Treasury of the Kurdistan Region

On Wednesday, October 14, 2026, a group of fourth-year students from the Department of Accounting at Cihan University–Erbil visited the Erbil Treasury of the Kurdistan Region under the supervision of Dr. Ibrahim Hussein Ahmed.

The students were warmly received by Mr. Khattab Saber Osman, Manager of the Erbil Treasury. During the visit, Mr. Huner Najat Abdelhamid, Head of Accounts, explained the Treasury’s organizational structure, main responsibilities, and daily operations related to public sector accounting and financial management.

He also outlined the procedures for processing government payments, monitoring public revenues, and controlling expenditures. To illustrate these procedures, he presented a practical example of expense processing, from submitting a financial request to recording and monitoring the transaction through official accounting and financial control systems.

The visit also included an interactive discussion session, during which the students’ asked questions and gained further insights into the financial and administrative procedures involved in managing public funds.

This practical experience enhanced their understanding of government accounting, financial management, and internal control mechanisms.

At the end of the visit, Dr. Ibrahim Hussein Ahmed expressed his gratitude to the management of the Erbil Treasury and Mr. Huner Najat Abdelhamid for their warm reception and valuable explanations.
