Department of Media Organized a Workshop on the Positive and Negative Effects of Technology

The Department of Media at Cihan University-Erbil organized a workshop for students in cooperation with the People’s Rescue Organization on the positive and negative effects of technology on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at Cihan Academy Hall.

Mr. Las Abdul Rasoul Khader and Mr. Karzan Omar, representatives of the organization, gave a lecture on the positive and negative effects of technology. The lecture covered several topics, including the main reasons for electronic blackmail as one of the negatives of modern technology. For instance, they discussed electronic extortion, how to deal with cases of electronic extortion, detecting extortion, the extent to which extortion develops locally, and methods for addressing it.

The workshop included dividing the students into groups, providing training on how to deal with electronic extortion, documenting extortion cases, and conducting surveys on the negative effects of extortion.

The course had active participation from students who presented cases and forms using both paper-based and electronic methods. They also represented instances of extortion and devised practical solutions while discussing their evolution.
