Department of Public Administration Organized a Scientific Visit to Kurdistan Parliament
On Sunday, February 23, 2025, second- and third-year students from the Public Administration Department at Cihan University – Erbil organized a scientific visit to the Kurdistan Parliament under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Qusay Hamid Al-Salami.
The students were warmly received by Mr. Omar Kamal Ahmed and Mr. Dildar Aziz from the Parliament’s Protocol Department.
The visit began with an introductory tour of the Parliamentary Library, where Mr. Mohammed Taher Pirani, the Library Director, introduced a diverse collection of books on public administration, governance, and law. Additionally, students received copies of the Constitution of the Kurdistan Region – Iraq.
Following the library visit, the students explored the Parliamentary Meeting Hall, where they engaged in discussions and asked questions about the legislative process and parliamentary functions. The Parliament staff provided insightful responses, deepening the students’ understanding of the legislative institution’s role in policymaking.
Moreover, Mr. Dildar Aziz delivered a detailed presentation on the legislative framework, explaining the processes of drafting, enacting, and overseeing laws, as well as managing public sector salaries. He also emphasized the significance of the 19 parliamentary committees, outlining their responsibilities in supervising various governance sectors.
The visit concluded with an engaging discussion on the relationship between governance and public administration, enhancing the students’ comprehension of policymaking mechanisms, governmental structures, and administrative decision-making processes. This experience provided them with practical insights that complemented their academic studies.
