DIJLAH TV HOSTED A CIHAN UNIVERSITY – ERBIL STUDENT TO TALK ABOUT DEVELOPING ELECTRONIC GAMES
On Thursday (October 3, 2024), Dijlah TV hosted Rafal Muhammad Mahdi, a fourth-year Department of Informatics and Software Engineering student from Cihan University-Erbil on the Sabah Dijlah program. During this program, Rafal discussed several topics related to developing two-dimensional (2D) games and their importance on the market, especially in light of the increasing need for games that work efficiently on devices with limited capabilities, such as old phones or weak-spec computers.
Additionally, Rafal spoke about the importance of focusing on the young age group when developing games, as children and adolescents constitute a large percentage of gamers and they are always looking for new and fun gaming experiences that suit their interests and the capabilities to use games. She pointed out that 2D games meet this need perfectly, due to their low resource consumption compared to 3D games, which allow for high performance even on weak devices.
Rafel also pointed out that one of the keys to the success of 2D games is balancing their visual quality and reducing their load on the processor and memory. This can be achieved by carefully designing games and using file compression techniques and smart optimizations to reduce device requirements. This approach helps provide a smooth and enjoyable user experience, even for players who own outdated devices.
Furthermore, Rafel touched on some game design strategies targeting young age groups, stressing that games for this category should be attractive and colorful, with simple and easy-to-understand user interfaces, and clear game mechanics that suit the young players’ level of thinking.
Finally, Rafel focused on the need for continued innovation in this field, as the gaming industry is developing constantly.
