General Education Department Students Conduct Breast Cancer Awareness Activity at Sami Abdulrahman Park and Pink Cafe

On Sunday, October 18, 2026, a group of five third-year students from the Department of General Education at Cihan University-Erbil carried out a breast cancer awareness activity at Sami Abdulrahman Park and Pink Café.

The activity was conducted under the supervision of Lecturer Deshni Abdullah Saeed to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The students were Gashbin Ghafur, Hawnaz Karim, Israa Kayfi, Nusaiba Abdulmajid, and Sahar Ajid. At the beginning of the activity, they distributed breast health information cards in Kurdish and English to citizens, containing information about the symptoms of breast cancer and how to perform breast self-examination.

In the same context, they explained that citizens should pay attention to any changes in their breasts and see a doctor if they notice any unusual changes, as early detection increases the chances of successful treatment.

Another segment of the activity involved students preparing a special board on which participants left their fingerprints, as a symbol of support and solidarity with those affected.

Participants also wrote messages of hope and placed them in a glass vase to express psychological and social support.

At the end of the activity, the students emphasized three key hopes: raising health awareness, undergoing early screening, and providing psychological and social support to people with breast cancer.
