Global Recognition: Cihan University-Erbil Ranked Among the World’s Most Eco-Friendly and Sustainable Universities for 2025
In a significant strategic move toward internationalization and the implementation of global sustainable development standards, Cihan University-Erbil has officially achieved certification in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2025.
According to the international results released by the UI GreenMetric organization and Universitas Indonesia, Cihan University-Erbil secured the (1086th) position globally, earning its place among the “Most Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Universities in the World” for the year 2025.
Significance of the Academic Milestone:
The UI GreenMetric is one of the most prestigious global rankings, annually evaluating universities based on their commitment to environmental preservation and sustainable development. The assessment is conducted across six key pillars:
- Setting and Infrastructure (Green Spaces).
- Energy and Climate Change Management.
- Waste Management protocols.
- Water conservation and usage.
- Modern Transportation systems and carbon footprint reduction.
- Education and Scientific Research in environmental fields.
The certificate, issued on December 5, 2025, and signed by Dr. Vishnu Juwono, Chairperson of UI GreenMetric, serves as a clear indicator of Cihan University-Erbil’s success in transforming its campus into a healthy, modern environment aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
