Media Department Students Visit Duhok Radio

To continue their scientific and field trip to Duhok, the Department of Media at Cihan University-Erbil organized a field visit to Duhok Radio on Saturday, October 17, 2026. The activity, which was supervised by Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Jamal Hama Karim, involved the participation of second- and third-year students from the aforementioned department.

At the beginning of the visit, the supervising lecturer and students were warmly received by Mr. Amir Sidiq Abdullah, Director of Duhok Radio, who expressed his pleasure with this scientific visit. Mr. Amir highlighted the status and significance of radio in the multimedia era, pointing out the unique characteristics of this medium in rapidly conveying messages, the emotional resonance of voice on listeners, and the ability to evoke mental imagery in the audience’s imagination. Furthermore, he emphasized that radio serves as the optimal and most vital starting point for students and aspiring media professionals to hone their capabilities; radio practice constitutes essential training for linguistic development, broadcast anchoring, vocal modulation, and overcoming apprehension—all of which form the pillars of success for any media professional across all other fields.

The students later toured various sections of the station, including the transmission room and the recording and sound studios. They closely observed the operation of audio mixers, specialized microphones, audio editing software, and the live broadcasting process over the airwaves.

On behalf of the Head of the Media Department, the visit ended with Assistant Lecturer Ahmed extending sincere thanks and appreciation to Mr. Amir and the entire staff of Duhok Radio for the kind reception and for providing this significant scientific opportunity to introduce the students to the art and fundamentals of radio broadcasting.
