Medical Laboratory Analysis Department Students Hold a Health Awareness Activity at Fakher Mergasur School

On Thursday, October 22, 2026, a group of students from the Department of Medical Laboratory Analysis at Cihan University–Erbil visited Fakher Mergasur School, headed by Shmiran Fakhir Mergasuri. Under the supervision of Lecturer Sardar Hussein, the students conducted an educational awareness activity covering medical laboratory tests in general and blood groups. The activity included a practical blood grouping demonstration for school students using finger-prick blood samples.

The activity began with Poshya Jange, who introduced medical laboratory tests and their importance in disease detection and health monitoring. Shokhan Gharib then discussed common types of laboratory tests and their uses. Also, Vian Mohammed explained blood groups according to the ABO and Rh systems, outlining the difference between positive and negative blood groups and the importance of knowing one’s blood type.

During the practical session, Paivin Peshraw explained the steps of blood grouping using a finger-prick blood sample, while Hana Salahadin helped organize the school students’ participation and address their questions, connecting the theoretical explanation with the practical demonstration.

The school students observed the blood grouping procedure in practice, while the participating students answered their questions and provided further explanations about the test and medical laboratory tests in general.
