Nutrition and Dietetics Department Students Visited Par Hospital for a Clinical Learning Experience

On Thursday, February 6, 2025, under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Mohammed M. Hussein, fourth-year students from the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Cihan University-Erbil visited Par Hospital for a clinical learning experience.

Upon arrival, the students were warmly welcomed by Mr. Ismail Ahmed, the Management Director of the hospital, who introduced them to the hospital’s services and emphasized the importance of laboratory diagnostics in healthcare. They later visited the hospital’s laboratory department, where they were introduced to various clinical tests related to nutrition and metabolic health, including blood glucose analysis, lipid profile testing, liver and kidney function tests, and vitamin and mineral assessments. Mr. Jutyar Mohammed, the laboratory specialist, provided detailed explanations of the role of these tests in diagnosing nutritional deficiencies and metabolic disorders. They also highlighted the collaboration between laboratory specialists and nutritionists in interpreting test results and formulating appropriate dietary interventions for patients.

This visit allowed the students to gain practical knowledge of laboratory diagnostics in the field of nutrition, enhancing their ability to interpret lab results and apply them to patient nutritional management. It also provided them with a real-world perspective on the connection between clinical nutrition and laboratory science, helping them develop essential skills for their future careers in nutrition and dietetics.
