Nutrition and Dietetics Department Students Attended a Practical Lesson at the Nwebunawa Natural Oil Factory
On Thursday, February 6, 2025, under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Raghad Abdulsatar, fourth-year students from the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Cihan University-Erbil attended a practical lesson at the Nwebunawa Oil Factory as part of their clinical practice in the Nutrition and Dietetics course.
Upon arrival, the students were warmly welcomed by Mr. Mohammed Rostam, the Management Director, who introduced them to the facility and provided an overview of the oil production process. The students were guided through the different stages of oil extraction, refining, and packaging, where they observed the quality control measures, hygiene standards, and safety protocols followed in the industry. Mr. Mohammed Rostam, the factory specialist, explained the nutritional properties of edible oils, the impact of different processing techniques on oil quality, and the importance of food labeling and consumer safety. The session also included discussions on the role of dietitians in ensuring the nutritional value of processed oils and promoting healthier alternatives in food consumption.
This visit provided them with the opportunity to enhance their practical knowledge of food production and quality assurance in the nutrition industry. It also gave them valuable insights into the connection between food science, industrial processes, and public health, further preparing them for their future careers in the fields of nutrition and dietetics.
