Organizing a Field Trip to Al-Yasra Foods by the Department of Business Administration
On 04-11-2021, the Department of Business Administration, Cihan University-Erbil organized a scientific trip to Al-Yasra foods for the second year students under the supervision of Assist lecturer Bushra Ali and The Lecturer Sahar Jalal Fattah.
The visit included a field tour to the different departments of the company starting with the ‘offers preparation workshop’ which included an explanation by the marketing supervisor of the company in Kurdistan Region about the mechanisms of preparing and repackaging of the offers and giving them new barcodes that match the new offers.
The second part of the tour included visiting the ‘refrigerated (cold) warehouse’ which are used for preserving perishable items such as meat, frozen foodstuff, etc. in a temperature-controlled storage environment. They explained that it is crucial to set the storages to extremely cold temperatures in order to prevent corruption of the products otherwise can lead to enormous losses. Perishable foods are the ones which become unsafe to consume if it is not kept cold or frozen so refrigeration can keep the products fresh and slow down the bacterial growth on the products.
The third part of the tour included visiting the ‘Special Commodity Warehouse (dry warehouse)’ that are designed for products such as grains (lentils, hummus, beans etc.) in which the temperature is in the normal level.
The last part of the field trip included visiting the ‘Order Loading and Unloading Area’ which includes using specialized equipment such as forklifts and fixed levers. Here, the company can use different kinds of order picking methods such as zone picking, batch picking and wave picking depending on the order routes and destinations.
