Physiotherapy Department Students: A Visit to Christmas Academy to Assess Posture
To enhance applied skills in the fields of posture assessment and diagnosis of movement problems, a group of students from the Physiotherapy Department visited Christmas Academy on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Asma Ghulam Reza Muhammad. They were warmly received by Ms. Kylie Barker.
During the visit, they participated in a series of assessment and diagnostic activities, where they conducted detailed examinations of the body postures using specialized assessment techniques. These examinations included analyzing the alignment of the spine, range of motion in the joints, and muscle balance, focusing on the key areas such as the neck, shoulder, hip, knee, and feet. They also discussed the impact of daily habits on physical health, providing recommendations for improving posture and avoiding future problems. In addition, the visit included interactive sessions aimed at raising awareness about the importance of early assessment in preventing musculoskeletal problems, providing them with a practical learning experience that enhanced their diagnostic and professional communication skills.
This experience provided them with a hands-on opportunity to gain movement assessment and diagnostic skills, which increased their understanding of the relationship between posture and overall health. These activities also reinforced the important roles of physiotherapy in improving movement, ensuring proper body alignment, and promoting overall health in individuals.
