President of Cihan University-Erbil, Prof. Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, Holds a Meeting with the Iraqi Ambassador in Qatar
On November 28th, 2023, Prof. Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil, paid a visit to the Iraqi Embassy in Qatar, receiving a warm welcome from Dr. Mohammed Issa Al-Issawi, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Doha.
Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, the President of Cihan University-Erbil, Prof. Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, provided a brief overview of Cihan University-Erbil to the Iraqi Ambassador. He highlighted the educational progress and scientific achievements accomplished in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. He explained that the medium of instruction at Cihan University-Erbil is English. He unveiled the purpose of his visit, stating, “We have come to pave the way for establishing coordination and academic relations with Qatari universities, particularly Qatar, Doha, Hamad bin Khalifa, and Lusail– renowned institutions globally.”
Prof. Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi expressed his desire to invite these prestigious universities to visit the Kurdistan Region and Cihan University-Erbil to foster academic relations, facilitate the exchange of students and faculty, and organize joint scientific conferences. He also conveyed Cihan University-Erbil’s readiness to lead a delegation for a reciprocal visit. Additionally, he urged the Iraqi Embassy in Qatar and Qatari universities to collaborate in efforts to send Qatari students to Cihan University-Erbil, citing the institution’s English-language instruction and lower study costs compared to Qatar.
In response, Iraqi Ambassador to Doha, Dr. Mohammed Issa Al-Issawi, expressed pleasure at the visit. He outlined plans to send an official letter to all universities in Qatar and the Qatari Consulate in the Kurdistan Region, aiming to establish academic relations. Dr. Mohammed Al-Issawi committed to maintaining continuous communication with the Presidency of Cihan University-Erbil, facilitating the coordination and relationship-building process between Cihan University-Erbil and the distinguished universities in Qatar.
