Students from the Department of Optometry and Vision Techniques Conduct an Environmental Awareness Activity at Cihan International School

First-year students from the Department of Optometry and Vision Techniques at Cihan University – Erbil conducted an awareness activity on Sunday, 22 February 2026, at Cihan International School entitled ‘The Importance of Preserving Life on Earth.’ The activity was supervised by the Head of the Department, Lecturer Omar Adel Mohammed Ali, and carried out with the participation of students Amna Ghazi Abbas, Nawras Ghanem Obeid, and Alaa Akram Abdul Karim, in coordination with the school principal, Mahmoud Emad Mohammed.

The activity featured simplified explanations tailored to the targeted age group. Student Amna Ghazi Abbas introduced the concept of environmental protection and emphasized the importance of preserving natural resources. She highlighted the role of individuals in adopting positive daily behaviors that contribute to sustaining life on Earth. She also used visual teaching aids and illustrative images to simplify the information and reinforce it in the students’ minds. Meanwhile, student Nawras Ghanem Obeid delivered interactive segments on topics such as water conservation, maintaining public cleanliness, and reducing the use of environmentally harmful materials. She encouraged active student engagement by promoting dialogue and presenting examples from their daily lives to strengthen their understanding of responsible environmental behavior. Student Alaa Akram Abdul Karim organized practical activities and purposeful educational games focused on caring for green spaces and protecting living organisms. These segments witnessed enthusiastic participation from the school students, helping to reinforce environmental concepts in a simple and enjoyable manner and encouraging them to practice these behaviors both inside and outside the school.

At the end of the activity, the school administration expressed its appreciation to Cihan University and the participating students for this valuable initiative, emphasizing that such activities play an important role in strengthening educational values and promoting environmental awareness among pupils.
