Students of Media Department Organize Awareness Campaign on Smoking Dangers
Students of the Media Department conducted an awareness campaign on Thursday, January 22, 2026, regarding the harms and dangers of smoking.
The campaign took place at Sami Abdulrahman Park in Erbil city, supervised by Assistant Professor (Ahmed Jamal Hama Karim). Students from the fourth year of the Media Department participated, including Aso Ali, Zerevan Tamo, and Tanya Fatah distributed a written brochure titled “The Killer You Pay to Kill You,” which discussed the dangers of smoking to human health and the harms that smokers face. In the final section of the brochure, participants gave hope to those who decide to quit this “killer” and move toward a healthier life, through the rapid positive changes of quitting smoking.
At the conclusion of the activity, the supervising lecturer thanked the participants for preparing and implementing the campaign’s content, as well as for encouraging citizens to quit smoking, which is considered an awareness duty of media work.
