Students of Nutrition and Dietetics Department Participated in a Short Oral Presentation
On December 5th , 2021, 4th year students of Nutrition and Dietetics department at Cihan University-Erbil participated in an oral presentation competition activity conducted by their lecturer, Dr. Behnaz Shahrokhisahneh, at Cihan Academy. Cihan Academy provides facilities for the students to practice presentations and debates on a high standard level in order to prepare them for their future academic careers.
Oral presentation practice enables students to elevate their speech skills and critical analysis, problem-solving abilities, ability to do research and prepare persuasive arguments, develop and synthesize ideas, and ability to communicate effectively.
During this activity, students were asked to select a topic on a dietary recommendation for different diseases (within 20 minutes) do research and get prepared for an oral presentation competition. Students were supposed to prepare for a short and quick presentation and subsequently answer their classmate’s questions. Such oral presentation competitions and academic debates are essential for especially fourth stage students who are getting prepared for their future careers or pursuing their education at master and Ph.D. levels. Students found this activity very useful as a practice for future conferences and seminars.
