Successful Completion of Chinese Language Course at Cihan University-Erbil
On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, Cihan University-Erbil successfully completed its first Chinese language course in a dignified ceremony held in the university’s VIP Hall. The two-month course marked a significant step toward strengthening the capabilities of the business sector in the Kurdistan Region and was attended by several university officials and representatives from the Erbil Chamber of Commerce.
The Language Center at Cihan University-Erbil, under the supervision of the university presidency, organized this course and provided all necessary logistical support. Twenty-two businesspeople participated, with the main objective of enhancing their linguistic abilities to manage economic relations and facilitate commercial activities with China, particularly for those engaged in trade with Chinese markets and commercial centers.
The closing ceremony was attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Abdulstar Karim, Assistant to the University President for Administrative and Student Affairs, along with members of the University Council, and Dr. Abdulwahid Taha, Head of the Research and Organizations Department at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The ceremony emphasized the importance of such courses in developing the capabilities of businesspeople and opening new doors to global markets. At the end, certificates of participation were awarded to the attendees.
This course was held within the framework of a strategic memorandum of understanding signed on June 29, 2025, between Professor Dr. Amjad S. Saber Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil, and Kamaran Salah Saeed, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. According to the memorandum, both parties are working toward several strategic goals, including conducting joint scientific projects and research directly related to labor market needs, organizing training courses and skill enhancement programs for members of the Chamber of Commerce, and providing specialized courses in international languages, such as Chinese, for businesspeople engaged in global markets. The agreement also focuses on creating opportunities for training and employment for university students in companies and institutions affiliated with the Chamber of Commerce, in addition to organizing joint conferences, seminars, and workshops that serve the interests of both parties and the wider community.
