The Department Of Media Students Visited the Archives and Library of Mumtaz Al-Haydari
In the continuation of organizing scientific activities for students across different stages and fields within the Media Department at Cihan University – Erbil, and as part of the subject “Kurdish Media,” the department’s leadership orchestrated a scientific visit for second-stage students to the Mumtaz Haidari archive and library in Erbil.
On Wednesday,28/2/2024, during the scientific visit, students explored the archive and library of Mumtaz Haidari. The supervising teacher and students were warmly received by the esteemed writer and journalist Mumtaz Al-Haidari. Expressing his satisfaction, he remarked, “I am very pleased that the Media Department at Cihan University – Erbil is the first scientific center to visit our archives and library. I hope that the visit proves to be fruitful for students and future generations.”
Mumtaz Al-Haidari then accompanied the supervising professor and students on a tour of the archive and library, housing a wealth of materials in various fields such as scientific, journalistic, documentary, historical, literary, cultural, political, religious, and social. Explaining the organization, he stated, “The archive and library are classified on two bases. The first is based on authors, particularly those with extensive works, and the second is by specialization.”
Subsequently, Mumtaz Haidari addressed the students, sharing insights into the field of media and Kurdish journalism. He reflected on the challenging journey of the Kurdish press, emphasizing the resilience of writers, poets, and journalists who faced repression and censorship but persevered, laying the foundation for the current state of the media. He encouraged the students to continue the legacy, contributing to the Kurdish press movement and advocating for press freedom.
In conclusion, Assistant Lecturer Hemin Amen Shwani, representing the Media Department and Cihan University – Erbil, expressed gratitude to journalist and writer Mumtaz Haidari. He acknowledged Haidari for opening the doors of the archive and library to the students, providing them with essential and valuable information.
