The Department of Media Visited Rona National Secondary School

On November 30, 2023, the Department of Media visited Rona National secondary school. The team included Safwan, a second-stage student, and Hevi, a third-stage student, under the supervision of the Head of the Media Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Serwan Anwar Majeed. They were warmly received by Mrs. Saber Mohammad Osman, the educational supervisor, and Mrs. Razao Ghazi Sadiq, Assistant Director for Student Affairs, representing the Rona School administration.

At the beginning, Assistant Professor Dr. Serwan Anwar Majeed gave a brief introduction to Cihan University – Erbil and the Media Department, explaining the purpose of the visit, which aimed to educate school students about one of the most important developments in life: the use of mobile phones and the impact of social networking sites on the lives of students at this stage.

Afterward, Haifi Fahmi, a student, delivered a seminar focusing on the usage patterns of mobile phones among students and their significance in student life. Towards the conclusion of her presentation, she provided valuable advice to the attending students on optimizing their use of social networking sites.

Subsequently, Safwan, another student, took the stage for the second segment of the seminar. He highlighted the paramount advantages of utilizing social networking sites but, in the same vein, emphasized the potential drawbacks. Specifically, Safwan delved into instances of addiction to social networking sites and underscored the damages that can arise from their misuse.

In summary, the school administration conveyed gratitude and recognition to the head of the Media Department at Cihan University – Erbil, acknowledging their dedication in organizing the seminar and their valuable contribution to educating students in this domain. The media department team has plans to visit various educational institutions to enhance awareness and provide media guidance on several topics relevant to students.
