The Medical Biochemical Analysis Department: A Scientific Visit to Shar Hospital

On May 11, 2023, first-year students from the Department of Medical Biochemical Analysis of Cihan University-Erbil had a scientific visit to Shar Hospital in Erbil City, under the supervision of Lecturer Mr. Hawkar H. Omar and Lab Assistant Chrakhan Khesro Hawiz.

The objective of this scientific trip was to expose the students to the latest techniques employed in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Serology, Phlebotomy, laboratory, and the Blood Bank Unit.

It is worth mentioning that the medical staff of the hospital explained and clarified all the procedures used in the laboratories which are relevant to the student’s field. In each laboratory section, they gave short presentations about the departments, equipment, devices, and all tests done by them. They also happily answered any questions posed by the students.

The visit lasted for about two hours. The students were very pleased to have such an opportunity to see the scientific work of their specialty and looked forward to the future ahead of them.
