The president of Cihan University- Erbil, Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, confers with the head of the Council of Higher Education in Turkey on a number of crucial topics
Following up on their significant meetings, Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, the president of Cihan University- Erbil, met with Erol Özvar, the president of the Higher Education Council in Turkey, also known as YOK, on the fringes of the Fourth Scientific Conference on Higher Education, which will be held at Istanbul Edin University in Turkey. During their meeting, they discussed a number of important issues.
To this end, the president of Cihan University-Erbil requested that the Council of Higher Education in Turkey, the country’s largest higher education authority, facilitate teacher-student exchanges and scientific coordination between universities in the Kurdistan Region in general and Cihan University-Erbil in particular. The president further stated that while our universities are able to send students to Turkish universities under the Erasmus+ program, we are able to send students to Turkish universities. We require a central decision to keep the door open.
The Kurdistan Region and Turkey have strong ties in other fields, so Prof. Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi said: “The universities of the Kurdistan Region in general and Cihan University – Erbil are open to students and teachers of Turkish universities.” He also said that since there are many shared interests between the two regions and because the Kurdistan Region is the closest point to Turkey, it is necessary to strengthen higher education with all aspects of scientific research, conferences, teacher exchanges, and student exchanges. Since the Kurdistan Region and Turkey have strong ties in the areas of trade, the arts, and business, Cihan University-Erbil believed that this degree of collaboration would extend to higher education.
President of the Higher Education Council in Turkey, Erol Özvar, expressed his pleasure at the meeting and thanked Cihan University-Erbil’s President, Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, for presenting these points and notes. He also promised to take all the criticism seriously, work on it, and improve the relationship as soon as possible.
