The Radiological Imaging Technologies Department at Cihan University-Erbil Celebrated World Radiologists’ Day
The Radiological Imaging Technologies Department at Cihan University-Erbil organized a celebration for World Radiologists’ Day on Thursday, 9th of November 2023. This celebration was held in the presence of the Cihan University-Erbil President (Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi), the Vice President of Administrative Affairs (Assistant Professor Dr. Abdul Sattar Karim), a number of HoDs, and students.
World Radiology Day is observed annually on November 8th to commemorate the discovery of X-rays by Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen in 1895. The aim of World Radiology Day is to raise awareness of the importance of medical imaging and radiation therapy in healthcare. This day provides an opportunity to highlight the crucial role that radiologists and radiographers play in the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions.
World Radiology Day also serves as an occasion to recognize and appreciate the contributions of radiologists, radiographers, and other professionals in the field of medical imaging. It highlights their expertise and the impact of their work on patient care.
The students prepared numerous posters about the history of radiology and medical imaging instruments, including the evolution of X-ray, ultrasound, CT scan, and MRI. They also explained various portable medical imaging devices that use ionizing and nonionizing radiation to produce different medical imaging.
