The students of the Media Department visit Xebat Newspaper
In this context, students in the second stage, supervised by lecturer Hoshiar Mohammad Amin, visited the Organ of Kurdistan Democratic Party Newspaper (Xebat) in Erbil on Wednesday, November 8, 2023. The head of the media department at Cihan University-Erbil continues to arrange scientific trips for students in various stages.
Salam Abdullah, the chief editor of the Xebat Newspaper, welcomed the first group. Next, the director of writing, Delshad Wasani, gave a quick overview of the newspaper’s history, publication phases, and overall operations to the students.
Following their visit to the library, archives, design manager, and design department of the newspaper, the media students at Cihan University-Erbil were well acquainted with the operations of each department, particularly the design division of the struggle daily. He responded to questions from several pupils on how to create the newspaper pages and described how he worked on the newspaper’s design.
Students gained actual knowledge of the stages of journalism work during this scientific trip, particularly regarding page preparation by the page head, who prepares daily reports with the assistance of reporter staff before designing them in the design department and how they will be printed.
In the second section of this scientific journey, the students were informed that the majority of designers don’t have formal education and instead rely on their artistic talent to create their designs. The supervisory teacher clarified that to address this issue, the media department students at Cihan University -Erbil receive academic instruction that emphasizes the fundamentals of design as well as all significant applications, icons, and shares. In his remarks, he also discussed the value of student involvement in newspaper design, particularly in light of the intellectual and contemporary nature of university education.
The lecturer complimented the Xebat Newspaper staff for their hospitality and for sharing their everyday work in the media, and they also expressed their gratitude for the scientific trip.
