A Scientific Visit Involving the Third-Stage Interior Design Department Students to the Mamo Furniture Factory, Erbil

The third-stage Interior Design Department students visited the Mamo Furniture Factory on October 16, 2023, under the supervision of Ms. Mays Nasir, as part of the Furniture Design subject.

The Director of the factory, Engineer Ibrahim Odeh, welcomed the students and shared information about how to deal with the materials, manufacturing stages, industrial machines, and equipment. The students asked him a number of questions to meet their course requirements.

During the visit, the types of raw materials used in furniture manufacturing and the methods of attaching as well as fixing wood in the manufacturing process were experimented with by the students themselves by transforming the raw materials such as alabaster into a material ready-for-use as a piece of furniture.

The students benefited from the experience, which will reflect positively on the student’s level in the course, design, and practical sense of materials and furniture.
