Cihan University-Erbil Evaluates Academic Progress and Launches a New Strategic Vision and Future Roadmap
In order to evaluate the 2025-2026 academic year, a high-level strategic meeting was held on Monday, April 27, 2026, at the VIP Hall of Cihan University-Erbil. The session was presided over by, President of Cihan University-Erbil, and Dr. Nawzad Yahya Bajger, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Cihan Universities, with the participation of the University Council and faculty members. During the session, Professor Dr. Al-Delawi announced the university has already launched a new strategic roadmap for the future,
Leadership in Innovation and National Recognition
At the outset, Professor Dr. Amjad Sabir Al-Delawi highlighted Cihan University-Erbil’s pioneering role as an innovative hub within Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. He noted that the university has led the implementation of critical initiatives, including the “Summer Course” system, the “Bologna Process,” and the integration of “Artificial Intelligence (AI)” and the “UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” into its curricula. This success led the Federal Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Iraq to adopt Cihan University-Erbil’s Summer Course model for nationwide implementation across all Iraqi universities starting next year.
AI and Global Benchmarking
Dr. Nawzad Yahya Bajger, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, emphasized the necessity of adapting to rapid global shifts toward Artificial Intelligence (AI) and “Deep Teaching.” He stated that failing to engage with AI represents a retreat from scientific progress. He affirmed that Cihan Universities aim to empower students and faculty to meet the global standards of leading nations such as the USA, China, and Canada.
A New Educational Philosophy: From Answering to Questioning
The meeting focused on a fundamental pedagogical shift: moving from a “response-based” system to an “inquiry-based” system (Questioning). This vision redefines the teacher-student relationship, transforming it from a traditional dynamic into a scientific partnership dedicated to uncovering truths. The university asserts that its primary role is not merely granting degrees but developing creative individuals capable of solving real-world challenges through modern scientific methods. The objective is to produce graduates with up-to-date knowledge who are fully prepared for the competitive labor market.
In conclusion, Professor Dr. Amjad Sabir Al-Delawi and Dr. Nawzad Yahya Bajger commended the faculty’s efforts and reaffirmed that Cihan University-Erbil will continue to serve as a bridge between academic knowledge and societal needs. The meeting concluded with the approval of a strategic roadmap to implement the university’s new vision for the upcoming phase.
