Media Department Students Conduct Scientific Visit to Historic Akre Qishla
On Wednesday, April 22, 2026, a group of third-stage students from the Media Department at Cihan University-Erbil, under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Jamal Hama Karim, conducted a scientific field visit to the Historic Akre Qishla in Akre District, one of the oldest and most significant historical landmarks in the Kurdistan Region.
At the beginning of the visit, the participating students, including Zhyar Ismael Abdulrahim and Omar Ghalib Abdullatif, learned about the history of the Qishla, which dates back to the Ottoman era approximately 220 years ago. The students toured the different sections of the site, which covers an area of more than 1,400 square meters.
The students expressed their satisfaction with the visit, noting that observing the landmark firsthand gave them a broader perspective on covering historical topics and highlighted the importance of documenting traditional architectural styles in Kurdistan.
The supervising lecturer emphasized the importance of organizing such field visits to help students better understand the historical and cultural identity of Kurdistan and the need to preserve antiquities as a national asset.
