Cihan University – Erbil organized a festival on “Short Films on Human”
In the presence of Mr. Sarwan Gumashini, Director of Legal Affairs in the Presidency of the Kurdistan Regional Government and Director of the Al-Ezidiya Organization for Documentation. The festival was held on April 7, 2019, at 11.30 a.m. in VIP Hall. A large number of university professors and students of the university attended the event. The festival shed light on minorities and human rights. It was organized by the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy in cooperation with UNAMI. The festival started with giving each of the following their speech:
1 – The president of Cihan University – Erbil Prof.Dr. Amjad Sabr Al-Dalawi. He warmly welcomed the guests and attendees and then he discussed the importance of collaboration and joint work between Universities and International organizations to insist importance of good understandings of basic concepts that have direct relationships with the society such as equality, human rights, and women’s rights.
- The speech of UNAMI Representative Mr. Zitu Siani. He focused on UNAMI’s role in spreading the culture of human rights in Iraq
After that, the second part of the festival began with a presentation of 12 short stories dealing with human rights issues and minorities. After the presentation, the third paragraph of the symposium took place. This part was a discussion session in which Mr. Tafteh Omar Rashid, Director-General of Human Rights in the Kurdistan Regional Government and Hossam Abdullah, Director of the Organization of Yazidi documentation and Assist. Lecturer. Ashna Baban – one the teaching staff from the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy At the University of Cihan – Erbil. The fourth part followed which the attendees addressed some questions to the interlocutors. They answered all the questions in details. Before the end of the festival, a survey was distributed to find out about the best presented short film at the festival. The festival ended with declaring “Sandrella Short Film” as the best short film.
