Cihan University-Erbil Ranks First Among Private Universities and Secures Second Place Overall in Kurdistan in International University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP)

In the University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP), Cihan University-Erbil has achieved the first position among private universities in the Kurdistan Region. Additionally, it ranks second among all public and private universities within the Kurdistan Region, and in the same ranking, Cihan University-Erbil has also reached the sixth position among all private and public universities in Iraq.

This ranking, which is dedicated to the academic performance of universities, has compiled information on 3,000 universities and Higher Education Institutions (HEI). Based on six academic criteria, an overall score for each university is calculated, and rankings for the year 2022-2023 have been established. Within the context of Iraq, 14 universities have been listed in this ranking.

The URAP, a non-profit organization established in 2009 at the Informatics Institute of Middle East Technical University, involves researchers from METU who voluntarily contribute to the URAP Research Lab as public service. The primary goal of URAP is to develop a ranking system for global universities based on academic performance indicators that reflect the quality and quantity of their scientific publications. Alongside this objective, since 2010, URAP annually publishes the global ranking of Higher Education Institutions.
