Department of Community Health Nursing Conducts Educational Field Visit to Nawroz Primary Health Care Center

On Tuesday and Wednesday, February 11–12, 2026, second-level students from the Department of Community Health Nursing at Cihan University–Erbil conducted a scientific and educational field visit to Nawroz Primary Health Care Center (PHCC) in Erbil under the supervision of Dr. Firas Ismael Mustafa.

The visit aimed to enhance the students’ practical competencies by exposing them to the implementation of the School Health Program and strengthening their understanding of community-based nursing practice within a primary health care setting.

The visiting team was welcomed by the Manager of Nawroz PHCC, Mr. Hawar Khorsheed, who emphasized the importance of cooperation between academic institutions and primary health care centers in developing students’ professional skills.

During the visit, the designated School Health staff member delivered a comprehensive briefing on his professional responsibilities. These included screening newly enrolled students, conducting regular monitoring visits to schools within the PHCC catchment area, following up on referred cases, and overseeing students’ immunization status and nutritional health.

The students also examined the School Health Program documentation system, including registration records, referral forms, vaccination cards, and growth monitoring charts. This hands-on experience enabled them to connect theoretical knowledge with practical application in the field.
