Department of Interior Design Engineering Organizes Scientific Field Visit to Cinema Hawler
On Tuesday, February 10, 2026, a group of third-year Interior Design Engineering students at Cihan University–Erbil conducted a scientific field visit to Cinema Hawler under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Lana Shahab Ahmed.
During the visit, the students were received by Mr. Hishmat Narnji, the Cinema Manager, who provided a detailed explanation of the interior design and technical aspects of cinema spaces. He explained the acoustic design principles used in the screening halls, including the use of sound-absorbing wall and ceiling materials, acoustic panels, and seating layouts to control sound reflection, reduce echo, and ensure clear and balanced audio throughout the hall. He also described how the geometry of the hall and surface finishes contribute to sound distribution and audience comfort. In addition, Mr. Hishmat introduced the students to the technical control room, explaining its role in managing projection systems, digital screens, sound systems, lighting control, and performance monitoring during movie screenings.
At the end of the visit, Mr. Hishmat Narnji explained the importance of the arrangement of halls, circulation paths, seating organization, and finishing materials, helping the students understand how functional, technical, and aesthetic requirements are integrated into cinema design. He concluded the visit by emphasizing that understanding acoustics, technical requirements, and spatial organization in public entertainment buildings is essential knowledge for interior design students, as it supports their future academic projects and professional practice.
